The Pacific Navigation Company was a subsidiary of the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake RR (and hence, the UP), which was used to extend the reach of that line from Los Angeles to both San Diego and San Francisco. On these routes, the company is know to have employed the steamers "Harvard" and "Yale". The company also offered coastal service from Seattle, Wa. (the end of the related Oregon & Washington Ry & Navigation Co. line) up to Everett, Anacortes and Fairhaven. On this run, they are have known to used the steamer "State of Washington".
